A word from the creator
My name is Jamal-Eddine BENYAHYA. I was born in Oujda (Morocco) in 1984 and currently live in Toulouse (France), where I work as an engineer and project manager in the industrial sector.
My passion for music was a revelation that began in elementary school, thanks to a teacher who played the Oud. An instrument that has never left me.
Self-taught for several years, I only began taking structured lessons to better master the Oud in 2007, when I became interested in another fundamental pillar: Rhythm. This ongoing quest allowed me to work with Mr. Ali Alaoui, a percussion master from the Arab world, through whom I acquired in-depth knowledge of rhythm, far beyond technique.
The idea to create the Melonea website emerged from several observations:
- If you want to learn unusual instruments in France, it’s difficult to find expert teachers.
- The abundant content online often lacks structure, progression, and appropriate teaching methods.
- In rhythm, it’s often the performance that takes precedence over the essential foundations.
On the other hand, the enthusiasm of participants of various nationalities at an online tourism forum where I led a presentation focused on oriental instruments gave me the impetus to take action and go further.
With Melonea, I want to offer a committed, methodological, and accessible space for learning music in a different way, a way that brings pleasure and encourages respect for traditions.
